Transport Layer Security (TLS) is the most widely deployed security protocol that encrypts data transmitted between two endpoints, most commonly when loading websites over HTTPS. Over time, new attacks against TLS and the encryption algorithms it uses have been discovered. To ensure better cybersecurity, as of August 1st, PJM has retired the eDART TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols and weak ciphers in TLS 1.2. Any PJM market participant accessing eDART or eDART giles on pjm.com via the web browser have been affected by this change.
The latest versions of web browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari, have TLS 1.2 enabled by default. If you are using an older or different web browser, please visit Microsoft Word - Weak Encryption Remediation Guide.dotx (pjm.com) to learn how to mitigate this change.
Adapt2 has taken the necessary steps to ensure this change has no impact to our clients.
