Changes to MISO’s Day-Ahead Market will take effect on November 5, 2016, for the November 6, 2016, Operating Day. These changes comply with FERC Order 809, designed to align the electric and natural gas industries’ scheduling practices. They will also enable gas-fired generators more opportunities to purchase fuel once they receive confirmation from MISO that they will be expected to operate the following day.
The Day-Ahead Market will close at 10:30 AM Eastern Prevailing Time (EPT), with results being posted at 1:30 PM EPT. The times will also now be adjusted accordingly depending on whether Standard Time or Daylight Savings time is in effect.
