CAISO adds two new Utilities to Western EIM

CAISO has recently announced that two of the country’s largest public utilities, Salt River Project and Seattle City Light, have elected to join the Western EIM market.  Both utilities have a combined customer base of approx. 1.5 million customers. The two utilities join other large entities like Arizona Public Service, Idaho Power, Powerex, and the Balancing Area of Northern California. According to the press release, “The entities represent 61 percent of the load in the Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC).” Adapt2’s team continues to monitor the new developments in the CAISO and Western EIM market. Adapt2 has in house expertise from one of the creators of CAISO and has implemented solutions for over 15 market participants in this market. Adapt2 has recently partnered with Tri- State Generation and Transmission Association to aid in their new CAISO EIM operations.
